Spotlight
The Hunger and Health Coalition would like to shine a spotlight one of our many volunteers.
This month, the spotlight is on Joshua Brandt!
Originally from Huston, Texas, Joshua came to Boone with the intent on visiting a friend for a few weeks. However, he quickly fell in love with Boone, and has been here for almost three years!
When he was down on his luck, he came to the Hunger and Health Coalition for assistance. What he found was more than food - he found a place he could volunteer his time!
He spends several days a week, usually working in our pantry, exchanging boxes of food for food vouchers, enjoying the feeling of helping others in need.
However, his generous spirit isn't just enjoyed by us at the Hunger and Health Coalition - he also does volunteer work for Watauga Humane Society.
When Joshua's not busy volunteering, playing his bass guitar, drawing, and writing short stories. He's currently seeking to do some freelance work with Shout: Nightlife Magazine & Social Handbook.
It is volunteers like Joshua that help enable us to do the work we do. Without our volunteers, we could not do all we do, and we are very grateful for their work.
The Hunger and Health Coalition has many volunteers who assist us in our mission to relieve poverty and hunger in a compassionate manner for families and individuals who are experiencing immediate, but temporary economic hardship and food shortages. We are grateful for every single one of our volunteers, and want to say "Thank you!" for a job well done.
For specific information on how you can become a volunteer, please contact Kim Winebarger.
